Medical Mission 2025

“What initially seemed like a routine two-week commitment as a doctor transformed into an enlightening experience that profoundly impacted [me]. My eyes were opened, my perspective shifted, and my heart was moved.”
– Dr. Patricia Gomez (Volunteer Physician)

GAiN PH together with GAiN Australia aided communities in need of medical support last Feb. 10-21, 2025. The missions covered areas in both Antipolo and Montalban providing reusable sanitary napkins, reading/distance glasses, medical consultation, and medicine to 7 different rural communities.

With the collaboration of the local barangay leaders, the team was able to provide medical assistance to the local residents including some families of the Dumagat Tribe community. Without the unwavering support from our partners and the diligent efforts of the team, our total of 1,093 patients served in all seven clinics would not have been possible.

Our Australian partners arrived Feb. 9 to join us in the mountainous areas of Antipolo—Calawis (Brgy. Proper & Sitio Apia) and Brgy. San Ysiro. The two teams then travelled on to Montalban and held medical clinics in Rosario Libis, Mascap, San Jose, and San Isidro.

In both major sites, the team encountered severe cases of hypertension, chronic pain, gastrointestinal concerns, and type 2 diabetes among the adults. A lot of the children had untreated cough and colds.

“As trainees and professionals at any level and setting, we work with much routine and disappointment in being unable to reach people’s deepest needs, despite our years of commitment to the study and practice of medicine,” wrote volunteer Dr. Kathrine Fernandez. “Yet, during this mission, we found that leaning on one another allowed us to go beyond physical care and offer hope as well.”
