Last November 8-10, 2025, when Typhoon Uwan struck the Philippines, communities across Bicol and Cebu faced strong winds, flooding, and widespread power outages. However, GAiN PH, in coordination with Cru Bicol and local volunteers, responded to families affected by the typhoon across Camarines Sur, Albay, and Cebu. Teams distributed essential food packs and checked on communities impacted by flooding, fallen trees, and power interruptions.

Students on the Move in Bicol

Cru missionaries and CBSUA (Central Bicol State University of Agriculture) student leaders immediately conducted relief operations in several affected areas in Camarines Sur. The team persisted in delivering food packs, clean water, and encouragement to families who had been trapped for hours in spite of fallen trees, blocked roads, and poor communication.

They were able to assist neighbors of Cru missionaries whose homes were damaged, students who had no allowance or food due to the storm, and community members affected by flooding and water contamination.

A separate team of four Cru volunteers also delivered 40 relief packs to families in Tiltilon, Sitio Ilaya—one of the hardest-hit areas. Each ₱800 pack contained rice, a 1.5L bottle of water, two cans of corned beef, two beef loaf, two sardines, and six Milo sachets. Due to the continued need in the area, the team will be returning to Liloan for further assistance.

GAiN PH extends its gratitude to all volunteers, partners, and community leaders who helped make these relief operations possible. Their rapid coordination and compassionate response ensured that food and essential support reached families during a critical time.
